Singapore

Singapore. One of the coolest, most futurist cities I've ever been to in my life...in simplest terms. A walk through down town is like stepping into the Hunger Games, full of high tech fixtures and futurist architect. They also speak English in Singapore, so if you're looking for a Westernized Asian travel destination, Singapore may be for you as well.

One of the most spectacular views I have ever seen was on top of the Marina Bay Sands. This hotel is made up of three towers, each 54 floors high. Stretching across all three towers horizontally is the World's largest infinity pool. Yes, a POOL. From ground level it looks as if a huge boat sits a top the towers. The view from the pool over looks the entire city, while on the other side it over looks the Singapore Strait (body of water that runs into the Indian ocean). Absolutely stunning. One of my favorite mornings was waking up at 7am to go up to the hot tub on the roof, sip a cappuccino, and watch the sunrise...even as the moment was happening I thought to myself, this can't be real.

Another truly impressive Singapore architectural piece was in the Botanical Gardens. To best put it here is a snippet from a CNN article,

"The man-made mechanical forest consists of 18 supertrees that act as vertical gardens, generating solar power, acting as air venting ducts for nearby conservatories, and collecting rainwater. To generate electricity, 11 of the supertrees are fitted with solar photovoltaic systems that convert sunlight into every, which provides lighting and aids water technology within the conservatories below." (full article here, http://www.cnn.com/2012/06/08/world/asia/singapore-supertrees-gardens-bay/)

It is amazing to see how inspiring and advanced some countries such as Singapore are, and I recommend everyone to pay it a visit.
