Cassville
Welcome to Cassville. A small town three hours west of Milwaukee right on the old Mississippi River. I was lucky enough to explore this town for a weekend and experience a blast from the past. The whole town comes and goes before you can even blink an eye, but one thing is for certain, it is not short of charm.
While in Cassville I learned a little bit about Wisconsin history. Although I don't want to admit this, just this past weekend I learned that our first governor was no other than Cassville native, Nelson Dewey. I was lucky enough to hop on a Stonefield tour (Village he helped establish) which brought us all around his estate as while as a village tour of the town he built up in the 1800s. One of my favorite features on his estate was an 1800’s wall mounted coffee grinder. I know what you may be thinking, "Really? A whole town full of amazing history and you're talking about a coffee grinder?" Yes. Yes I am. Because my past life as a Barista has given me a fond passion for coffee, plus I love antiques.
While we are on the topic of coffee, I had the opportunity to visit the town coffee shop to try and satisfy my caffeine cravings while in Cassville as well. This is a shop ran by the local church and is only opened Thursday, Friday, and Saturday mornings. So the fact that I was able to grab a latte served by the cutest little church lady, was pure luck. Visiting small towns such as this one is a nice reminder of where our state has originated from, and how prosperous we have grown over the years. It is also a nice reminder that no matter how populated (or unpopulated) the place where you reside in is, there will always be somewhere to grab a cup of Joe. (hopefully)
